Meet the Designer: Lecil Henderson

Lecil Henderson is founder and jewelry designer of The Henderson Collection of North Carolina. Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Lecil first studied under his father, an account executive for a successful jewelry design firm. After completing his undergraduate studies at Wake Forest University, he followed his father into the business and created an Italian import division.

He soon ventured to Europe, where he studied under master artisans in Milan, Florence, and Venice. During his time abroad, he immersed himself in every aspect of the industry and developed a business plan to launch his own firm. Today, The Henderson Collection crafts unique, handmade, and comfortable jewelry lines for the modern woman, along with custom creations.

Lecil’s greatest source of inspiration is his mother. When he first entered the jewelry business more than 30 years ago, Mrs. Henderson encouraged him to design jewelry that was comfortable to wear and easy to put on. One of his first designs was a functional and wearable bracelet with no clasp. His innovative bracelet design continues to be sought-after as a practical and beautiful piece of jewelry for daily wear.

Crated entirely by hand, The Henderson Collection offers beautiful pieces of fashion jewelry. With distinctive finishes in 18K black gold, chocolate brown gold, and denim blue gold, plus designs in diamonds and fine colored Italian enamel, the classic yet modern pieces stand out and are perfect for every occasion, from a board meeting to a cocktail party.

As the company’s founder, Lecil is committed to developing relationships with his clients and customers, and enjoys visiting his client’s stores for exclusive designer events. These events provide him with an opportunity to interact directly with his customers and showcase his innovative designs.

He also enjoys giving back to the Charlotte community. He has served as president of Leadership Charlotte, the Historic Properties Commission, and Charlotte Trolley, and serves on the Wake Forest Alumni Association. A proud father of three children, he has coached soccer and Little League teams to victory, and encouraged his children to share his love of traveling and the outdoors. When he’s away from the office, he enjoys golf, snow skiing, tennis, camping, hiking, and whitewater rafting.
