Precious Metals: Platinum and Gold

Sparkling diamonds and dazzling gemstones are one aspect of luxury jewelry, followed closely by precious metals. Offering a range of colors and options for every lifestyle, platinum and gold are the most popular precious metals and ideal for engagement rings, wedding bands, and more.

Platinum

Visually, platinum appears nearly identical to white gold. Hypoallergenic and naturally a silvery white, the metal is highly sought-after for its beauty and superior durability. As the rarest precious metal, platinum is used in a nearly pure form (usually between 95-98% platinum) for fine jewelry and is more pure than gold, making platinum the most expensive precious metal.

Prized for engagement and wedding rings, diamond bracelets, and diamond stud earrings, platinum is a classic choice for bridal and fine jewelry and flatters most skin tones.

Yellow Gold

Throughout history, gold has been used to create jewelry. Yellow gold for fine jewelry is an alloy of pure gold mixed with zinc, copper, or other metals for greater strength and durability. Gold purity is signified by karats, and the higher the karat amount, the higher the actual gold content. 18K yellow gold is stamped with the number 750, signifying 75% pure gold and is ideal for fine jewelry. 14K yellow gold is stamped with 583 or 585, meaning the gold percentage is 58.3% or 58.5%.

With a rich gold hue and luster, yellow gold gives fine jewelry incredible warmth and shine. Especially beautiful on olive and tan skin tones, yellow gold makes a perfect choice for any engagement ring style.

White Gold

White gold is an alloy of pure gold mixed with white metals such as nickel or palladium. Most white gold jewelry is rhodium plated for a bright white shine. While rhodium can wear away over time, replating is a simple process that can restore the whiteness and shine of your white gold jewelry.

More durable and scratch resistant than yellow gold, white gold brings out the brilliance of sparkling diamonds and especially complements fair and rosy skin tones. 18K white gold is most similar in appearance to platinum, significantly lighter in weight, and makes a stunning choice for engagement rings and other fine jewelry.

Rose Gold

Rose gold is an alloy of pure gold mixed with copper. More durable than yellow or white gold, rose gold complements all skin tones. With a higher percentage of pure gold, 18K rose gold is typically a pretty dusky pink shade. 14K rose gold appears redder because of the higher percentage of copper.

Offering a classically chic look and pairing well with other metals, stylish rose gold is a popular choice for engagement rings, pendants, right hand rings, and bangle bracelets.
